PIBA 2020 Statement on COVID-19

Due to Covid-19, the Pine Island Baseball Association  will be coordinating our efforts with the State of Minnesota, Pine Island Schools, and the Minnesota Department of Health.  Our first priority is the health and safety of our athletes, coaches, families, and community.  We do NOT know when baseball activities will resume, but will update you as we learn more in the upcoming weeks.  Until May 4th, no teams should be holding practice in any type of organized fashion.  Therefore, the open gyms that were previously scheduled for March 29th and April 5th have been cancelled.  What we do encourage, is getting outside while maintaining six feet of social distancing from others and playing catch or enjoying baseball activities with your immediate family members.

Summer baseball registration remains open.  We have waived all late registration fees.   It is our intention to make a decision about the season on or around May 11th after we learn more about the school year and actions taken by the State of Minnesota.  Our board has made the decision that IF summer baseball is cancelled, all registrations will be fully refunded.  If our season is shortened, a prorated refund will be given.  So, with that said, we encourage all families who have interest to sign up because if/when we get the go-ahead organization of leagues, scheduling, and jersey ordering will need to be done in a timely manner.

As future decisions regarding summer baseball are made Pine Island Baseball Association will communicate to all registrants via email and through postings on the pibaseball.org Web site.

Thank you for your support,

Pine Island Baseball Association
