|Little League Wraps Ups Playoffs on July 17th and 19th. Congratulations to the Legion Champion Red Sox, Pirates, and Royals!
A big thank you to all of the parents and volunteer coaches for supporting Pine Island Little League this summer!
- Major League: The #1 seed Red Sox (6-1-1 record in regular season play) won the league championship game on Saturday July 19th over the #2 seed Giants (5-3 record)
- Minor League: The #2 seed Pirates (4-2-1 record in regular season play) won the league championship game on Thursday July 17th over the #1 seed Rays (5-1-1 record)
- Rookie League: The #2 seed Royals (5-2 record in regular season play) won the league championship game on Saturday July 19th over the #1 seed Rockies (6-0 record)
|Pine Island Legion Team Goes 2-1 over the weekend to advance to the 2nd weekend of tournament play on July 25th
2014 Third District Division II Baseball Tournament Bracket
The Pine Island Legion team began tournament play on Saturday July 19th with an opening round 4-0 loss to Plato. They bounced back at 3pm to beat Jordan 4-1. In their Sunday game they beat Le Sueur-Henderson 11-2 to advance to the second weekend of the tournament.
The next Legion tournament game will be on Friday July 25th 7pm versus Holy Family at John Burch Park in Cannon Falls. If they win Friday evening the Legion will play again on Saturday July 26th 11:30am at Frank Hawks Field in Cannon Falls against Belle Plaine.
|Pine Island Twilight Team will wrap up their season with a July 26th Tournament in St. Charles
There will be no Twilight games this week before the Twilight League Tournament on Saturday, July 26th, in St. Charles. The originally scheduled game with Century was cancelled, and Winona's other team cannot play on Tuesday night. Therefore, there will be a practice on Wednesday night, at 6:30-8:00 pm to prepare for the tournament. Saturday tournament games in St. Charles will be Century at 11:00am and St. Charles at 1:00pm. A third tournament game may be played Saturday depending on results of the first two games.
|Pine Island 14U/15U Takes 2nd Place at the MBT Tournament in Lakeville
Congratulations to the 14U/15U team that went 6-1 over the weekend to capture 2nd place in the MBT tournament in Lakeville!
|Pine Island Babe Ruth Gold claims the Senior Babe Ruth tournament title on July 17th
Number three seed Pine Island Gold won the 2014 Senior Babe Ruth tournament in Pine Island on Thursday July 17th with a 2-1 victory over #1 seed Cannon Falls. In a very well played game that featured some great pitching and errorless defense on both sides, Gold was able to score the deciding run in the top of the 5th inning. Cannon Falls threatened in the bottom of the 5th and had two runners on base when the final out was recorded, but the strong Gold defense proved to be the difference. PI Gold was presented the Senior Babe Ruth tournament traveling trophy at home plate after the game. Congratulations to Coach Anderson and the Gold team!
In the preceding consolation game on Thursday Pine Island Maroon lost a close 5-3 game to consolation champion Goodhue. Congratulations to Coach Pederson and the Maroon team on their fine season!

|Pine Island Babe Ruth White claims the Junior Babe Ruth tournament Consolation title on July 18th
The Babe Ruth Junior team traveled to Cannon Falls on July 18th for the Junior Babe Ruth tournament. PI White (#6 seed) won the first game of the tourney against #4 seed Z-M 10-9 in extra innings. In the 2nd round they lost a close game 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning against #1 seed Byron. In their final game of the day white won the consolation championship game 11-10 against #5 seed Goodhue.

Our youth program is strong because of the many coaches that volunteer their time and talents to coach our young players. If you are interested in coaching either traveling or in house teams please contact one of the league coordinators. You can also volunteer to coach during the sign up process. If you are interested in becoming active in the Pine Island Baseball Association, you are encouraged to contact one of the board members. The board meets frequently to discuss our youth baseball program and we are always looking for additional voices to help make the game of baseball better for our Pine Island youth.
